Christmas jumpers wishlist

Season of Christmas jumpers is almost here! Over the past few years Christmas jumpers have been reborn and now everyone wants a piece for themselves. I've learnt the hard way when my shopping trip to Primark two years ago resulted in getting absolutely nothing, so now I make sure to be prepared in advance. I already got this year's jumper - mint green with polar bear from Primark, but I am seriously tempted to get few from my wishlist...

I have raved about Bourjois Rouge Velvet lipsticks many, many times before and I just cannot get enough of the formula! I was very happy when they recently released a Nude-ist shade, much appropriate for smoky eye and those 'no make up make up days'. At their Christmas press day I spotted another nude shade. Happy Nude Year* has the most gorgeous pinky nude colour and it is simply perfect. I love how it glides smoothly on my lips giving natural and very girly look. It has currently a firm spot in my make up bag and I carry it literally everywhere.

What do you think of this shade?

NAILS: Barry M Vintage Violet, Barry M, nail polish, nails, NOTD, purple, swatches,

Barry M Vintage Violet is a delicate violet creme shade, perfect for this time of the year. It looks quite dark on the photos, but it's more lighter and muted in real life. I loved having it on my nails last week, it's so classic and chic but still has some colour. I think new additions to Barry M permanent collection are just amazing, Ballerina is equally gorgeous and I urge you to get them both if you get a chance.

Debenhams Christmas Party Outfit Competition

I think Christmas party is a reason to be a little bit daring and maybe stay away from the usual and classic 'little black dress'. So I decided to inject a little bit of colour with this Hailey Cardinal Red Long Sleeve Sequin Lace Cocktail Dress in a stunning red shade, which will definitely make me stand out from the crowd. Plus red is the colour of the festivities and with sparkling sequins and sheer panel detail it is quite daring without revealing too much. I've teamed it up with Faith 50th Anniversary Suede Court Shoes designed especially to celebrate the brand's 50 years. I think they are very versatile pair which will look fabulous with this dress, or any skirt or trousers. I love how the gold-plated ankle cuff adds a little bit of an edge to them whilst still keeping them elegant. As for accessories, I decided to keep them simple - let the sparkle and sequins do the talking! I've chosen these beautiful Jon Richard Diamante Crystal Gold Oval Drop Earrings and Jon Richard Diamante Crystal Gold Wave Stretch Bracelet for some old-Hollywood glamour and Star by Julien Macdonald Black Feather Clutch Bag which will carry all of my essentials and definitely will be the talking point of the party!

This is my entry for Debenhams Christmas Party Outfit Competition. I created this outfit mood board of my dream party look featuring my favourite Debenhams partywear. More details here.

Makeup Revloution Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette FLAWLESS, palette, eye shadows, make up, Makeup Revolution, beauty, review, blogger

Can you believe this eyeshadow palette costs mere £8? I couldn't either! Makeup Revloution Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette FLAWLESS is definitely something to get if you are a fan of eye make up and don't want to spend a huge sum of money. I absolutely love these shades, because they are my cup of tea and I get to use every single one of them on a daily basis (OK, maybe with an exception of dark green and black shades). The packaging is very sturdy with a huge mirror. The shades are also named, but on a rather flimsy and poor-quality plastic, so it was hard for me to actually see some of the names - but it's still nice to have them. These negatives aside, I love this palette for having all neutral shades which can take me from day to night in an instant. The formula is creamy and easily blendable - once again I am very impressed with Makeup Revolution! There is a little bit of fall-out from some of the shades, but nothing major. If you're looking to start your Makeup Revolution somewhere - this palette is definitely a way!

My Blink Brow Bar experience

My Blink Brow Bar experience, topshop, review, eyebrows, brows,

My eyebrows are very hard-maintenance. They can easily grow bushy and are very resistant to any attempts of taming them down. On a plus side, they are very black, so I never really need to bother with filling them, unless it's for a very special occasion and I have time on my hands. My usual routine consists of simply brushing through and then securing them with a Clear Brow Gel* and using Nourishing Brow Oil* at night. I usually pluck them myself and go for threading from time to time to keep them in a proper shape.

My Blink Brow Bar experience, topshop, review, eyebrows, brows,

I recently was invited to Blink Brow Bar in Topshop Oxford Circus to check out what they have on offer. Blink Brow Bar is a walk-in brow bar which specializes in ancient Indian technique of threading. When I sat down in the chair, I was instantly relaxed, even though I was in a bustling shop floor. Ravinder explained the whole process to me and I was feeling very at ease after that. She asked me what shape I'd like to get and what she's going to do - very professional! Everything was very hygienic and she made sure that I'd get to use antibacterial gel before touching my brows. It smelled super lovely too - a delicate rosy scent which was a nice change from usual 'clinical' fragrance. Ravinder took her time and didn't rush which made me confident that I will have nice looking brows at the end. Her last touch was to slightly fill them in with Cinnamon Spice Pencil and Cinnamon Spice Gel. I absolutely love my new brows and I am amazed how much difference a little addition of colour makes! I am now slowly incorporating Cinnamon Spice Brow Definer* and Cinnamon Spice Gel* into my daily makeup routine. Last, but not least, I didn't experience any inflammation, redness or spots - perfect!

Have you ever tried threading?

PIXI Christmas collection, beauty, blusher, eye shadows, highlighter, lip balm, make up, palette, PIXI, review, beauty blogger, UK blog, PIXI Ultimate Beauty Kit 2nd Edition, PIXI Fairy Dust Favourites - Light Catchers, PIXI Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio

I recently went to the newly refurbished PIXI store at Carnaby Street to see the upcoming Christmas collection. The store looks very sleek, but still with that shabby-chic feel, huge mirrors and white shelves. I love it! The Christmas collection is even better and consists of PIXI Ultimate Beauty Kit 2nd Edition*, PIXI Fairy Dust Favourites - Light Catchers* and PIXI Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio*. I still cannot decide which product is my favourite, all of them are simply gorgeous!

PIXI Ultimate Beauty Kit 2nd Edition
This ultimate kit contains 40 eye shadows, 6 highlighters and 6 cheek powders and is an ultimate “go-to” PIXI beauty palette that gives endless options for gorgeous make up looks. I was surprised how compact it is and still has so many products to choose and use. I think it's an amazing way to try out PIXI make up range - eyeshadows and blushers. I am a fan of the right-sided selection of eyeshadows for everyday looks and I like how they are a mixture of mattes and shimmers - something for everyone! The blushers are decently pigmented and you can also find highlighters lurking on the top two rows. I may not be using all these shades, but I've already found my favourties and it's nice to know I have orange blusher if I'll ever need one (pumpkin/fox costume idea for next year's Halloween?). As always, PIXI eyeshadows are pigmented, buttery and pleasure to work with - it's a fantastic beauty kit.

PIXI Fairy Dust Favourites - Light Catchers
I own a couple of Illamasqua Loose Pigments (which I am yet to review on the blog) and I like their multi-tasking abilities and the fact that I can change a simple eyeshadow with a dash of glitter. So I was very happy to learn that PIXI has prepared a travel-friendly stack of five loose pigment powders. The shades are Glimmery White, Candlelit Gold-nude Shimmer, Medium Nude Sheen, Warm Tan Shimmer and Rich Metallic Copper. This wide selection means you can easily use them as highlighters or eyeshadows to enhance your eyes and cheeks with a soft glow. I am particularly fan of Rich Metallic Copper - it's simply perfect for my blue eyes.

PIXI Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio
You cannot go wrong with this trio of lip balms in Ripe Raspberry, Honey Nectar and Comfort Clear. They feel nice and moisturising on the lips and give a hint of colour too. I think they're perfect Christmas stocking.

Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream Pump review

Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream Pump review

I am a huge fan of Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream, it is perfect to keep my hands in a tip-top shape, especially in the winter. I love its sweet scent and how nourishing it is to keep my hands soft. When I spotted a Pump version in Boots I knew I had to have it! It makes life so much easier, I know it may be weird to some how excited I am about it, but after washing my hands or doing some washing up, it is so nice to have cream so easily accessible. I keep & Other Stories Hand Lotion on my desk at all times, but it's nice to have an alternative too.

Very Party In Style event

I was lucky to be invited to an amazing fashion soiree organized by Very.co.uk, Company and Reveal magazines. I also had a chance to pick my outfit for the day and I've chosen a dress from brand new Samantha Faiers collection for Very - Chiffon Baby Doll Dress*. It's a gorgeous dress perfect for all occasions, I love its cute Peter Pan collar and comfortable loose fit. It's amazing to transform with few accessories from day-to-night and to still look glamorous. I've teamed it up with Ella Mini Kettle Tote Bag* - it's very light and has a perfect size for all my essentials, including my Kindle which is my necessity to have on long public transport journeys.

On the night, I met and mingled with fellow bloggers, chose my favourite Very Party Pieces - expect a lot of glitter and glamorous frocks with the cutest heels covered in stars. I had an amazing time sipping some champagne and finding out latest make up party tricks from Bourjois and hairstyle trends. At the end of the night, we were invited for a special catwalk show with the current party collections - it was fabulous and I already have a wishlist of must-haves as long as my hand. I've included my favourite looks at the very end, let me know if you like any of them!

NAILS: Barry M Ballerina

NAILS: Barry M Ballerina, Barry M, nail polish, nails, NOTD, pink, swatches, beauty blog, blogger

Barry M literally nailed it this season - one collection after another is simply full of new nail polishes I am dying to add to my collection. For Autumn/Winter they added three new shades to their core collection of Nail Paints: Vintage Violet, Ballerina and Nightshade. I've recently picked up first two and may actually go back for Nightshade too - all of these shades are just stunning - very simple and chic - but I was especially drawn to Ballerina. It has the nicest soft, dusty pink shade - definitely not something I already have in my collection. I think it suites my skintone perfectly too, looks very subtle on my nails and is perfect everyday colour. I only needed two coats for the opaque effect and I am very impressed with the staying power (albeit I did use Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat). I am already planning my next manicure with Ballerina - with some gold glitter on the tips - what do you think?

H&M haul

H&M haul

So two weeks ago I decided I need to update my autumn/winter wardrobe and get few basics which will be trusty for the next few cold months. Armed with 20% off gift card (from this month's Glamour magazine), I went to H&M Oxford Street in search of the hidden gems. I picked up few tops and jumpers - all with long or 3/4 sleeves to keep me warm. I am particulary happy with the khaki one - it fits me perfectly. Of course I couldn't leave the shop without some leopard print and I also added some stripes into the basket. I also made an on-line order and got these gorgeous knee-length boots in black and this jersey dress in grey - I wanted to get it for months, but apparently it's only available on-line, so fingers crossed it'll fit!

Did you pick up anything in H&M lately?

MUA Elysium Palette review, MUA, eye shadows, palette, make up, beauty, review, swatches, UK blog, beauty blogger,
ye shadows, palette, make up, beauty, review, swatches, UK blog, beauty blogger,

Call me crazy, but I just can't resist a neutral palette - they are just so versatile! MUA Elysium Palette launched last week and I couldn't get my paws on it. I really like MUA palettes - I think Undressed Palette is my mostly used palette - the formula of the eyeshadows is very good, they blend nicely and the selection is great for the price. So I trotted to the till without any hesitation and £6 less I was ready to give it a go.

There are ten shades available, a mixture of matte and pearl and instead of eyeshadow applicator MUA decided to give a black/white Duo-Eyeliner as a bonus. Don't get me wrong, I am not using these applicators to apply my normal eyeshadows and blend them, but they are extremely useful to apply a highlighting shade in the corner of my eye, so I am rather sad to see them go. I am certain I will not use the eyeliner, because I am really bad with such products, especially in the crayon type.

This negative aside, I adore all of these shades (some claim it is a dupe of Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and I can somewhat see the resemblance), they are very soft and smooth, but I've found that they are not as good as other standard MUA palettes - some shades are not very pigmented and hard to apply. But still - it is a wonderful basic palette which you can get without breaking the bank. I also really like the fact that the eyeshadows are named - such a small addition which makes a huge difference!

What do you think of these shades?

You know that I am a huge fan of Bourjois and without a doubt if I could only buy make up products of the one brand for the rest of my life, it would be Bourjois - they cover everything from foundations, mascaras, blushers and lipsticks and all of them are my firm favourites. I always anticipate the latest releases from them and last week I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of what will be hitting the shelves very soon. Some of the products are already out though, so check your local Boots or Superdrug for your Bourjois fix! This is just a first impressions post and stay tuned for more detailed reviews.

Bourjois Smoky Stories eyeshadow palettes*
You can easily stay on top of your smoky eye game this festive season with Bourjois Smoky Stories eyeshadow palettes. There are eight palettes to choose from including Grey & Night, I Love Blue, Rock This Khaki, Upside Brown, In Mauve Again and Good Nude. All shades are easy-to-wear and are ideal to highlight all eye colours during the day and night. Each palette comes with three base shades and a topcoat shadow with glitter to illuminate the eye, while preserving its colour. The eyeshadows have a creamy texture and also contain a primer - so you can rest assured that your eye make up will hold entire day and night. I absolutely love these compacts (so handy for traveling too!) and the fact that you can mix and match them for a truly unique look.

There are two new addition to this range of blendable cream-to-powder formula eyeshadows. I really like its formula and the fact that I can apply them using fingertips, build up colour and even mix and match the shades. They give a really nice metallic effect - perfect for party season!

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Polish in Grey To Meet You, Glitterizer and Rouge In Style*
These three nail polish shades are perfect for Christmas and New Year celebrations. I like how they have flattened brush for easy application and give ultra-glossy result.

Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara Ultra Black*
I've already reviewed a standard version of this mascara here. Both versions have a unique brush with spherical bristles to wrap every lash in a 360° motion and straight bristles to create clump free definition. I have naturally black and long lashes, so I am mainly after a volume in a mascara, this does a decent job, but will not replace my favourite Bourjois mascaras: Twist Up The Volume and Volume Glam Ultra Curl.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Happy Nude Year*
I am sure you already know I am a massive fan of these Bourjois lipsticks. They have amazing staying power and the colour selection is great. I am pleased to present you a new nude addition - Happy Nude Year. So far there was one nude shade - Nude-ist! which looks very natural on the lips, so I am happy to embrace another one.

Bourjois Mega Liner Ultra Black*
This eyeliner has an extra-large angled tip to allow you to create both thin and thick lines with high precision. I am really bad with eyeliners, but I attempted to draw a semi-decent lines with this eyeliner, so I am eager to practice more.

I absolutely loved my The Body Shop Advent Calendar last year, so I squealed with delight when this year's edition* arrived at my doorstep. Every window is filled with some The Body Shop goodies and because I didn't want any major spoilers, I didn't read what exact products it hides. All I know there's something for everyone - from make up, skincare and bodycare and that new amazing range Glazed Apple also makes an appearance. I think this Advent Calendar is an amazing gift for any beauty aficionados, initial cost of £50 maybe too steep for some, but it hides £80 worth of products and I am confident that none of them will go to waste. I used up almost everything from last year's calendar, some minis were especially handy when travelling and I discovered some great products too. So grab it quick and read more about The Body Shop Christmas range here.

It is my second bottle of PIXI Glow Tonic - once very hard to get only in PIXI Carnaby Street store, now freely available on-line. I must admit I preferred the older bottle better, because it came with a pump, I understand though that this one is more convenient to use for shipping purposes.

It is definitely a cult product by now with a huge following and many bloggers and skincare enthusiasts singing its praises. I am always wary about using a toner, after a horrific experiences when I was 18 (courtesy of Clean & Clear) when I was left with a very dry, red and irritated skin. Thankfully Glow Tonic is alcohol free and not too harsh, so I am feeling at ease whenever I use it. It claims to help tone, firm and tighten the skin as well as remove dead skin cells for healthier looking skin. The recommended use is twice a day - morning and night, after your cleanse and before your moisturiser, but I stick to my own rules and apply it every other day and only at night.

To be honest I don't see the difference in terms of tightening my skin, but it definitely feels more fresh and healthy when I continue to use it. It doesn't irritate my skin either and helped to reduce pores on my nose a little bit. My moisturiser also seems to go on much better too.

Have you tried PIXI Glow Tonic?

Glamour December 2014 edition

I know that probably most of you heard about it by now, but I just wanted to give a shout out about the latest issue of Glamour which comes with free Nails Inc nail polish - 4 shades to choose from - all very autumnal, and also 20% discount at H&M - very handy to buy few pieces of winter wardrobe, I certainly did some damage in H&M on Saturday.

Links of London Narrative Collection

Yesterday I had a pleasure to visit one of Links of London stores and spend an evening mingling with other bloggers whilst sipping Prosecco and eating cupcakes. Everything was about brand new Links of London collection - Narrative - full of silver, gold and rose gold. Narrative is a mixture of  pendants, bracelets, rings and necklaces - all ready to be engraved with an initial, personalized message or special quote. I absolutely love this idea - that's a gift with a meaning and a message of love in one!

I was lucky to get my pendant engraved yesterday, I've chosen simply my initial and a rather elaborate font, but you can squeeze even a word and there are plenty more fonts to choose from. What was really unique is that engraving was done manually! I had few items engraved on other events (most recently Calvin Klein Reveal perfume bottle), but this was completely new experience to see how laborious the process of engraving can be.

I absolutely love my necklace and I am actually very tempted to get a bracelet too - in rose gold - with a special and meaningful quote - something I would like my tattoo to say if I'd be brave enough to have one.

Narrative comes on-line on Monday and slowly drops in stores from following week.
Place an order of £200 or more this November and you'll receive a free silver pendant and chain worth £75.  Plus, enjoy complimentary engraving on your free gift.

St. Ives face and body scrubs

St. Ives face and body scrubs, beauty, review, skincare,
St. Ives face and body scrubs, beauty, review, skincare,

I remember using St. Ives face scrubs ages ago, they belonged to my husband (then boyfriend) and I really liked their apricot scent, but they seemed a too harsh for my skin. I've recently learnt though that there are more products in the range, so I was eager to try St. Ives 'Sensitive Skin' Apricot Gentle Scrub* and leaving St. Ives 'Fresh Skin' Apricot Invigorating Scrub* for my husband, who has a normal skin. (There's also St. Ives 'Naturally Clear' Apricot Blemish Fighting Scrub option for those who are prone to breakouts.) All St. Ives facial scrubs contain apricots - to gently cleanse, hydrate and nourish the skin, walnuts - to act as an all-natural exfoliant and corn kernels - to promote skin's regeneration. I've been using my scrub on a weekly basis, followed-up by a face mask and I definitely noticed my skin looking clearer and fresher.

I also put St. Ives Apricot Body Scrub* on trial and safe to say I think I've found my new favourite body scrub! It smells absolutely amazing, when I open it, literally my whole bathroom smells like a summer afternoon. It does a great job too buffing away the skin but not being too harsh. I fully incorporated it into my fake tan routine and couldn't be more happy with the results. If you're looking for a body scrub on a budget - here's your product!

I was patiently waiting for 3 for 2 offer on Barry M nail polishes and when that day finally came I swiftly added these two beautiful nail polishes (and another one from the Christmas range!) to my basket and went to the till. The purple shade is called Plum and it's from Gelly Hi-Shine range and glitter shade is called Atlantis and it is from Aquarium Collection. I think both of them really compliment each other and are perfect manicure material. It's really hard to capture the shine and shimmer of the glitter and after taking many, many photos I am still not completely satisfied with these. You can see and compare how my manicure looks in the daylight in my outfit post from yesterday. I know it is going to be a pain to remove, but I just couldn't deny myself injecting a little sparkle into my everyday life.

WHAT I WORE TODAY: stripes and dots

jacket - New Look, top - New Look, jeans - H&M, shoes - Primark,
necklace - New Look, bag - H&M

On Saturday I took part in the amazing Halloween event - #CurrysZombieRun - I ran with a group of friends for 5k throughout the woods and fields dodging zombies on my way! It was definitely fun, exhilarating and great experience - I want to take part next year, I'm just not sure whether I want to get dressed up as a zombie or attempt to survive again. After the run I went home, got changed and went for a cinema date - I finally saw Gone Girl and I loved it! I dare to say that I enjoyed even better than the book, so I urge you to see it if you haven't already. I wore a simple stripy top from New Look's Petite section, my favourite H&M jeans and some Primark flats which are so comfortable and on trend I even got an exact pair in brown.
