The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter review

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter review, beauty, review, skincare, The Body Shop,

I know I am a super-late to the game of cleansing butters, with blogging world covered with reviews especially praising Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm, but to be honest I've found the idea of 'butter' removing my make up and me dragging it all over my face quite repulsive. We all have our favourites, and I am sticking to my Bioderma Micellar Solution and Elemis Sensitive Cleansing Wash routine to remove my make up on majority of days. However, with discovering The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover and The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil and loving these two products, I decided to try another one from this range: The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter.

This cleanser is an indulgent make-up remover for the whole face. It gently and efficiently melts away make-up and impurities, leaving skin feeling clean, soft, refreshed and pampered. I honestly couldn't believe how gentle it is when removing all types of make up including mascara and eyeliner. The product is quite thick I have to scrape some from the tin and then simply rub it all around my face. I rinse it off with warm water and voila - my face is fresh and clean without any feeling of tight or dry. It has a very subtle scent which makes it even more of a pleasure to use. I think I still prefer The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil since it has a liquid formula, but this Cleansing Butter would be perfect to take on holiday since it is compact, light and not prone to any spillage.

What is your favourite cleansing butter?

This is my first Hourglass product and birthday present from lovely Julie. I always marvelled at Hourglass lip products from afar and now I can't believe that one of them is finally mine! Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in shade Grace is hidden in a sleek packaging with bullet being inscribed with Hourglass logo. The shade is simply gorgeous and flattering and I love wearing it everyday or pairing it with a smoky eye look. The formula is creamy and feels weightless on the lips. I think Julie may have started a new lipstick obsession for me!

Today is my birthday, so I thought I'll review something special from my beauty stash. It's not a secret that I am obsessed with space and anything with galaxy print or theme will get a closer look from me (read my post on Zodiac/Horoscope Trend Alert). So when I saw this Lime Crime Zodiac Cosmetic Glitter in Gemini I immediately put it into my virtual basket. I don't have anything like this in my make up stash - maybe with an exception of Illamasqua Pure Pigments - so this purchase was somehow justified. Since these particles are slightly bigger than those in Pure Pigments, Zodiac Cosmetic Glitter is not recommended for immediate eye area, but you can get creative in other ways on your face, nails, hair and anywhere you want to sparkle. I absolutely love the look of Gemini which is white with rainbow sparkle that glimmers in a multitude of colours, depending on the angle you look. So far I've only used it to add extra sparkle on my nails, but I am tempted to put it into a good use for Halloween make up. Also, how amazing is the packaging? I just love Lime Crime attention to detail and this glitter is such gem inside and out.

One of the face bases I have been recently trying is PIXI H2O Skintint*. In essence, it is a tinted face gel with cooling and hydrating properties. It doesn't have the biggest coverage, a rather a sheer tint, but feels wonderful on the skin. It's very hydrating with refreshing effect and dries to a semi-matte finish that stays all day - absolutely perfect for my normal/dry skin, especially during the summer. H2O Skintint also contains antioxidant-rich green tea, moisturising rose water, soothing English chamomile and relaxing lavender, so you know that it will only do some goodness to your skin. I absolutely love the packaging too - a mint green with a pump which makes it easy to dispense the amount of product you need.

My favourite The Body Shop Vitamin E products

I really like The Body Shop Vitamin E range and every product from the range proved to be great with the exception of night and day creams - I seem to be allergic to one of the ingredients and even though I tried them both a couple of times, I had to give them away, because they left my face  covered in nasty bumps and spots. However, there are plenty more products in the range which I adore and these are my favourites:

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist
This is definitely my star product. It is a quick skin pick-me up mist and an excellent one for setting make-up, which I am primarily using it for. I love spritzing it on for instant refreshment, moisture, and protection, especially in the summer. I sometimes also use it for wetting brushes to apply pigments/eyeshadows and creating eye liner. It has a very subtle rose scent and even though I am not a particular fan of rosy scents, this one is a pleasure to use. I definitely recommend it. Whenever I am at the backstage of London Fashion Week the make up artists have it on standby, so it must mean something!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash*
This face wash was one of my first The Body Shop products which I've ever bought when I was 18 and came to London. I had no clue about skincare and I remember my routine consisted of putting a little bit of a make up remover lotion from Superdrug (now discontinued) on NIVEA face wipes, scrubbing my face and then following up with this facial wash to remove any excess impurities. I guess the whole routine wasn't that bad - at least I wasn't using only face wipes! Receiving this facial wash in the post recently I am happy to report that the formula hasn't changed that much - it's still very gentle and doesn't dry my skin - something I am always looking out for.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet*
You can read my full review of this face sorbet here, but I couldn't resist putting it in this post although it launches on 16th July. I am currently storing it in the fridge, so I can get a refreshing coolness feel on my skin - much needed in the summer, especially after sunbathing. It mattifies the face and can be used as a primer - look out for it when it is going to be released!

Do you use anything from The Body Shop Vitamin E range?

I have never ever had a luck with eye liners. I have a drawer full of them and it seems it doesn't matter on the formula - gel, liquid, pen-style, brush - acquiring the skill always eludes me. You can always see this line from where my eyelashes are growing - super annoying! Some suggested using black eyeshadow and smudging it around the eyelashes and then fill it up with the liner, but I was after a precise and clean-cut look. I think I have finally found a product which helps me to achieve it: NYX The Curve Felt Tip Eye Liner

As you can see, it has a completely unique shape to help apply liner mistake-proof. I absolutely love this ergonomic shape and grip zone to make application precise, secure and effortless. The most important thing is that it goes above my eyelashes, which are naturally very long and usually stand in a way of a standard pen eye liners. This helps me to reach eyelashes line precisely and fully. After the first use I was amazed how good my cat flick looks and although I need to practice a little bit more, I finally have the tool to work with.

What is your best tip to apply eye liner?

NIVEA 28 day challenge

I recently went to the NIVEA event where I've learnt about the new range specifically designed for the sensitive skin. With most of us living fast-paced, hectic lives that expose our skin to a range of environmental pressures, our complexions need a little extra help. If you’ve ever experienced redness, tightness or dryness your skin may suffer from sensitivity. All skin types can be or become sensitive, not only dry skin. That is why it is vital to take care of your skin during that time with an extra special care.

My skin is normal and prone to dryness and I have experienced sensitivity before. My hero product which helped me banish dry patches and irritation was NIVEA Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating Night Cream, so I am really excited to give this range a try. If you suffer from oily skin, don't worry - NIVEA’s Sensitive Face Care range features balanced formulas with a light texture that is suitable for all skin types.

Today I begin my NIVEA Sensitive 28 Day Challenge. I will be using products from the range daily and report back after four weeks on how my skin has changed and what are my final thoughts. But first let me introduce you to four products in the line:

NIVEA Daily Essentials Sensitive Day Cream* (RRP £4.49)
The caring formula with licorice extract, dexpanthenol and grape seed oil moisturises, actively reduces and helps prevent the three main signs of sensitive skin: redness, tightness and dryness. It is free of perfume, colourants and parabens. SPF 15 helps protect sensitive skin against sun-induced premature ageing.

NIVEA Daily Essentials Sensitive Night Cream* (RRP £4.49)
The intensively moisturising formula helps to regenerate sensitive skin at night, fighting the three main signs of sensitive skin: redness, tightness and dryness. It is free of perfume, colourants and parabens. Enriched with licorice extract, dexpanthenol and grape seed oil, it gives calm, strengthened skin in the morning.

NIVEA Daily Essentials Sensitive 3in1 Micellar Cleansing Water* (RRP £4.07)
The innovative formula cleanses, removes make-up from the face and eyes, and moisturises in one step. It respects the skin’s natural balance, requires no rinsing and is free of perfumes, colourants and parabens. Thanks to the special micelle technology it cleanses especially mildly, yet highly effectively. Since I am a huge fan of micellar waters, this is the product I am really looking forward to try.

NIVEA Daily Essentials Sensitive Cleansing Milk* (RRP £4.07)
The indulgent, creamy formula cleanses the skin especially softly and caringly, gently removing make-up and eye make-up. It respects the skin’s natural balance and is free of perfume, colourants and parabens.

If you would like to take part in the challenge yourself, I have 10 FULL SETS of NIVEA products to be won in my giveaway - CLICK HERE!

Coming in standard and waterproof variations, 1 Second Volume is the newest mascara from Bourjois - one of my favourite mascara brands. Of course I simply had to get one and test it for myself. Coming in a sleek and silver packaging, it has an unique brush with spherical bristles to wrap every lash in a 360° motion and straight bristles to create clump free definition. It has been already named a dupe for a famous Benefit They're Real mascara which I may not be a huge fan of, but it certainly does a decent job at lengthening lashes. This Bourjois offering is very easy to apply, although I would argue that it takes longer that 1 second to cover the lashes properly, but nonetheless it's still pleasant to use. As you can see, it gave me some extra volume - something I am primarily looking for in a mascara - and it hold on well throughout the day with no flaking. I'm not sure if it will replace my favourite Bourjois mascaras - Volume Glam Ultra Curl and Twist up the Volume - but it can certainly aspire.

Have you tried this mascara?

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil review

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil review, beauty, review, The Body Shop,

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil* is a dry oil made with a lightweight blend of nut oils including Community Fair Trade marula oil. It gives instant hydration and a shimmering finish and has a sweet cocoa scent. It is multipurpose and you can use it on your body, face and hair with bearing in mind that a little goes a long way. My friend is also putting few drops of it when she's having a bath, for an extra silky smooth skin. I like to put it on the ends of my hair (otherwise it may get too greasy) and on cuticles for some nourishment. I know that there are other scents including fruity ones like Pink Grapefruit, Mango and Strawberry, and I can't wait to give them a go when I use this one up.

Are you a fan of beauty oils?

H&M slip-on sandals

H&M slip-on sandals, H and M, shoes, summer, 2014, fashion, trends,

When I saw Birkenstock sandals popping up on the runways and first rows of the biggest fashion shows I was dumbfounded on how flat and comfortable shoes have made their way into the fashion elite. There are plenty of choices in high street stores - from ZARA to Primark if you don't want to invest in the original sandals. I picked up this pair from H&M (£24.99). They also have a similar pair in black without any gems, but when I tried it on, my feet looked huge and very masculine so I opted to pay £10 extra for this beige option with some sparkly stones. They are so comfortable to walk in it feels almost wrong! I must admit that I have a little trouble styling them, so far I only have a couple of outfits on my mind with something including MOM jeans, denim shorts and maybe a midi skirt. They are definitely out of my comfort zone of cute and dainty sandals, but I am still very happy that I got them and I am sure I'll get plenty of use out of them in the summer.

What do you think of slip-on sandals?

I absolutely can't wait for Maleficient and when I've learnt that MAC was making a special, limited edition collection based on the movie, I was eagerly anticipating how it would look like. It is somewhat of disappointment shying away from usual purples and greens, but I guess they've focused on the current movie and emulated strong cheekbones, yellow eyes and red lips in the eyeshadow palette and lip products. Nothing really took my fancy in the collection as much as the lipstick. True Love's Kiss not only has a beautiful name, but also a gorgeous deep red shade which has a little shimmer into it. It is a beautiful statement lipstick and I know I will cherish it for a long time. The only flaw I can find is a very cheap looking packaging - I guess getting two lipsticks from MAC Alluring Aquatic collection set my standards high, but this packaging - especially the cap - feels and looks plastic, much worse than the standard one.

Did you pick up anything from MAC Maleficient collection?

This is what I wore yesterday for our fun day out in London. We went to see Godzilla in IMAX 3D and it was so good - Godzilla is definitely my hero now! I don't want to write any spoilers though, so I urge you to go to the cinema and see it yourselves! Later we took a stroll through Southbank with a short break for Pimm's and a burger and ended up at National Gallery at Veronese: Magnificence in Renaissance Venice exhibition. Subscribe to my channel to see a VLOG from the day very soon!

I knew the weather will be nice and warm, so I had bare legs for the first time this year! I put on my gorgeous skirt from H&M in which I feel like ballerina/Carrie Bradshaw, pointy leopard flats and my brand new Topshop denim jacket which I absolutely adore. It is so nice - not too warm or thin, with pockets and slightly distressed denim. I love its shade too - it will be perfect to wear all summer long with dresses, skirts and shorts, so expect to see it very soon on the blog!

NAILS: Barry M Sugar Apple

NAILS: Barry M Sugar Apple, Barry M, minted, nail polish, nails, NOTD, review, swatches, top beauty blog

Barry M has recently released three new pastel shades as an addition to the Gelly Hi-Shine family. I've picked up one of them - Sugar Apple which is very similar to famous Essie Mint Candy Apple. Originally I wanted to get Huckleberry, which is more of a blue-mint shade, but in the end I went for pure mint. Third shade Rose Hip is a light pastel pink and reminds me of Essie Fiji.

I really wanted to love this nail polish - it seems perfect - glossy minty shade from my favourite drugstore nail polish brand. I own many other Gelly Hi-Shine colours -and sadly they compare so much better than Sugar Apple. Firstly, it is a struggle to apply - first layer is ridiculously streaky - and the second covers the nail, but the formula is so hard to work with! In comparison, I own Barry M Lychee which is a dream to apply with only one layer needed! Secondly, the nails chip like crazy! I never had such huge problem like this with Barry M nail polishes and after reading few reviews I can confirm that it is not just the case of my bottle. Even applying various top coats doesn't help and I find myself having to do my manicure again after two-three days - frustrating! All in all, a gorgeous, perfect-for-summer shade, but sadly the formula has taken the turn to the worse.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover review

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover review, beauty, review, skincare, The Body Shop,
The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover review, beauty, review, skincare, The Body Shop,

I will be forever faithful to Bioderma Micellar Solution and it is a firm staple in my make up routine, but I've found it really drying on my lips, when removing statement lipsticks. Being a diligent beauty blogger I try to do all of my lipsticks swatches on the lips and the constant removal proved to be damaging to my lips. Therefore I went on a hunt for a lip make up remover and not wanting to spend almost £20 for Elemis White Flowers Eye And Lip Make-Up Remover, I decided to give The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover with its more purse-friendly £8 tag a go. I didn't regret it one little bit. It is extremely gentle on the skin, I dare say that even more than Bioderma. It removes my eye and lip make up efficiently and is suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. As I mentioned before, I mainly use it to remove lip make up, but the few times I've tested it on a smoky eye, it also did an excellent job. It is definitely not drying the lips even when removing the most stubborn of matte lip glosses, dark lipsticks and lip stains. On the contrary, I feel them nourished and simply taken care of. The only negative I can think of is that although you get a 150ml bottle, since the product is a dual-solution and you need to shake it first, in reality you get 75ml of product which means you may have to repurchase it more often. But since The Body Shop usually has a lot of discount codes flying around, I can always invest in a few bottles in advance.

Do you use any specific eye and lip make up removers?

Makeup Revolution is living up to its name by taking the blogging world in storm. I went to their press day, just before they were launching and I was instantly in love with the vast array of colours and products they have to offer. You should definitely read my review (with swatches!) of their Redemption Palette Iconic 3 which is a perfect dupe of Urban Decay Naked 3 and won't break your bank balance. I got really generous goody bag to gave me a taste of the products and leave with an appetite for more. Over the past few weeks I have been trying out this baking product trio of highlighter, bronzer and blusher with excellent results.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights* (£3) is not only designed beautifully, but also gives a perfect glow and is very finelly milled to achieve flawless results. It actually reminds me a lot of MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Golden Days* (£4) has an easily buildable formula and gives a natural finish, if you are not too-heavy handed. Just be careful with this particular shade - it can get too shimmery!

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Blush in Peach Lights* (£2.50) not only has a very loveable name, but also the shade. I was instantly surprised on how pigmented it it and how it compliments my skintone. If this particular one isn't your cup of tea, fear not - there are six more available and in addition plenty of cream, powder and even lacquer formulas. Just as the bronzer, this blusher has a hint of shimmer, which I personally like, so there is no complaining from me.

The only negative I can find is the packaging, which of course doesn't look as luxurious as you'd like - but of course everything is compensated in the cheap price. The other thing is an artificial scent which was very noticeable when I first opened the products, but faded since.

Did you try anything from Makeup Revolution?

W7 Face Blender Brush, make up brush, contour brush, cheap contour brush, beauty, brushes, make up, review, W7, fragrance direct,

For the longest of time I was on a hunt for a cheap and cruelty-free make up brush which would make contouring easy. There were only two contenders: Illamasqua Blush up Brush (with a £28.50 price tag!) and Nars Ita Artisan Kabuki Contour Brush (which I think is no longer available and is not cruelty-free). However, I spotted a perfect and very affordable option at Fragrance Direct from the brand W7 (it was actually mentioned by Miss Make up Magpie - thank you Gemma!). Costing only £4.25, W7 Face Blender Brush comes with soft hairs and short, easy-to-grip handle and thanks to it's slanted, slightly hollower shape it is perfect to apply bronzer into hollow of your cheek to later blend out with other brush. Of course you are not limited to bronzing powder application, so you can also use it with blusher. Contouring has been so easy with this brush and I absolutely love it. I am so happy that I got it!

What is your favourite contouring brush?
