Bourjois Happy Light Primers review

Bourjois Happy Light Primers review, Bourjois, make up, primer, review, swatches, UK beauty blog, Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer, Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer

A while ago Bourjois has released its Happy Light collection and I've bought foundation, concealer and one of the primers from the range. Recently, I got the other primer in my Beauty Haul (see what else I got) and thought it's going to be fun to review and compare them together. I must say that I love using primers, my usual go-to primers are Laura Mercier Foundation Primer for a night out and Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer for Dry & Sensitive Skin for staying in and make up on a budget.

Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer
This primer is suited for normal to combination skin and has a matte effect. This is the original primer which I've bought and a rare occurrence for me, since I always go for radiance products to give my face this extra glow. However, I thought that it would be nice to have a matte product for a change and that is why I decided to give it a go. It is slightly perfumed (as majority of Bourjois products), but the scent fades very quickly once applied. It's extremely smooth and lightweight and delivers the promised results: matte effect, smaller looking pores and perfect base for a foundation. I think I'll get a lot of use out of it during hot summer months.

Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer
This primer is suited for normal to dry skin and has a luminous effect. Having a small arsenal of radiance products I didn't really need this primer, but I guess there's a thin line between needing and wanting. I justified the purchase by telling myself that now I have a complete Happy Light collection and it is more suited for my skin type and I wasn't wrong in the slightest. I prefer it much better, probably because it gives me more 'moisturising' effect and with my skin prone to dryness I want that extra moisture from where I can get it. Just as the other one it sinks in easily and with the subtle luminous particles it gives my face this extra glow I really like.

Did you try any of these primers? Which one is your favourite?

Lipsy London Glam perfume

Lipsy London Glam perfume* can be described as a fruity and floral scent with deep, intense, musky undertones. The face behind the bottle is American actress Jessica Lowndes, mainly known from the revamped version of 90210. Glam has evolved from the previous fragrance Lipsy London Love, with it's updated heart shaped black-jewelled bottle which will look very pretty on any dressing table. The scent itself combines fruity honey and sweet top notes, which are complemented by orchid, jasmine and peony. If you are a fan of deep and sweet scents, this perfume is definitely for you.

I am literally counting the days and hours until the warmer days will come and I can finally put my coats, boots, scarves and gloves to rest and enjoy the sunshine and warmth in my jackets, ballet flats and cute tea dresses. Until then, I made my mission to inject some pastel colours into my life with some nail art. Using L'Oréal Spring/Summer nail polish collections I mixed up shade Nouvelle Vague from Les Blancs collection and added Gold Leaf top coat. I hope you like the result just as much as I do.

The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes in Warm

The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes have been on my radar for a very long time, but since they are on a pricey side (RRP £16) I could never justify purchasing them since there are plenty of nice and cheap eyeshadow palettes around. However, taking advantage of Christmas 50% off offer I decided to take a plunge and got my four shimmery cubes in Warm

I know I took a safe road with an array of browns shades and maybe could have been more adventurous with greens, pinks and violets, but in the end I decided to get something I would be able to use on every day basis, take on holiday and slip into my make up bag (or even pocket), so these are shades I went for.

I'm really glad that I did since these colours compliment my blue eyes perfectly and easily blend together. They are also a great solution to transform your look from day to night by getting more dramatic look with a wet brush. Pay-off is great but you may experience some (as the name suggests) shimmery fall out. Although they seem expensive, they will last a long time and I'm really glad I got them. I also recently reviewed two new Shimmer Cubes released in spring collection: Hot Pink and Spring Bronze if you want to take a look.

Do you have Shimmer Cubes in your collection? Which shades are your favourites?

My Korres lip butters

Korres lip butters have been waiting patiently in my drawer for months before I actually remembered I have them. With my Burt's Bees Lip Balm with Mango Butter running out rapidly, I decided to finally whip them out and give them a go. I've bought them in Sephora in Poland, but I know they are getting more and more accessible in the UK. Korres is a Greek brand which is fairly new to me, but from the reviews I see that people are enjoying its skincare, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

Korres Jasmine Lip Butter
Packed in this cute little pot is a very buttery and soft lip balm which gives my lips a delicate shine and a hint of colour. I am not usually a fan of jasmine scents, but this one is so subtle it is a pleasure to use. I love the design of the packaging - feels luxurious but not over the top - and also the fact that the lids are colour-coordinated according to the lip butter's 'flavours'.

Korres Mandarin Lip Butter
I wanted to get a lip balm, which I can top up on-the-go. I love my Carmex Cherry Lip Balm pot, but it is not necessarily hygienic to use when you are out and about. I must admit I was primarily drawn to the design on the lid - it's just so cute and artsy. I am not a fan of mandarin scents (although I like the fruit!), but once again Korres proved me wrong and I really enjoy the fresh and zesty aroma this lip butter has. The formula is hydrating and it glides on your lips effortlessly. It gives a much stronger hint of colour on your lips, but I personally like it - I can top it up with any lip gloss from my stash and I am ready in no time.

Did you try any of Korres lip butters? What do you think about them?

Essie The Lace Is On nail polish has been quietly waiting for me on the sale shelf in Boots. I am really obsessed with Essie shades at the moment - I just love the formula and the oval brush which makes it so much easier to apply the nail varnish. This fuchsia shade is so nice and colourful I just had to get it. I am not really drawn to this kind of pearlescent finish anymore (it was a highlight of my high school years), but this radiant orchid hue was too pretty to resist.

YouTube - Beauty Haul

I did a lot of beauty shopping for the past two months and in this haul I am sharing you what I recently got from Illamasqua sale, Revlon, Bourjois, LUSH and many more! No wonder my bank account weeps. I hope you'll enjoy the video, please let me know if you also got any of these products and what do you think about them. MAC Impassioned lipstick

MAC Impassioned described as “bright warm pink” is the ultimate summer lipstick. In the bullet you can see that the shade looks like neon pink with a hint of red and coral, but on the lips it doesn't look as outrageous and I seem to be a little disappointed with it. After seeing numerous swatches and posts on Impassioned I was expecting to get similar effect, but I guess maybe my expectations were too high on giving me the ultimate neon pink lips. Don't get me wrong, I still like this shade, but I wish it would look as bold on my lips as it looks in the bullet. On the plus side, it is very easy to apply with amplified finish which makes my lips feel plump and nourished.

Benefit Hervana blusher

Benefit Hervana blusher is one of those cute beauty products that looks beautiful inside and out, and it's just so pretty you almost don't want to use it in case you'll spoil its looks. This classic Benefit cardboard packaging hides four complementary shades: lucky shell, divine peach, heavenly rose and berry delight, which blended together create a perfect shade of orchid blossom. This blusher guarantees to give you a lovely natural rosy-pink glow to your face and is perfect addition to your collection, especially if you are a fan of a natural make up. It has a subtle sweet scent to it, which I personally think is a nice addition (I love how Bourjois Round Pot Blushers smell!). The texture is matte, but there is some shimmer peeking through which can accentuate your cheekbones in a very subtle way. It's simply another Benefit gem.

The Body Shop Tea Tree range

The Body Shop Tea Tree range, beauty, review, skincare, The Body Shop, The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil, The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion, The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash, UK beauty blog

If you suffer from a blemish-prone skin, fear no more since The Body Shop Tea Tree range* is one of the best on the market to quickly and efficiently get rid of the pesky and unwelcomed guests on your face. The beginning of the year brings a fresh crop of tea tree and its oil is sourced from a cooperative in Kenya. The farmers hand harvest the tea tree in January and February taking only the leaf from the plant and slow steam to release its most pure, anti-microbial oil, which goes directly into the products - no processing and no changes necessary.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
This is a star product of the range and already a cult classic with one being sold every 8 seconds! The oil can be used directly on the skin and with antibacterial properties it soothes without drying the skin. I tested it on few blemishes and they were significantly smaller in the morning with the area not being dry, so I guess it will now be a firm staple in my clean face routine. (RRP £7)

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion
This lotion is perfect to clear up any acne breakouts you may have. This doesn't give you an immediate clear skin but after a couple of days of consistent use the breakouts are clear and disappear. It feels smooth and soft on the skin, but beware if you have dry skin, because it may be very drying to the healing areas. So dry skin sufferers shouldn't use it as a part of your daily skincare routine, but those with oily skin will definitely love it. (RRP £8)

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser
This pore minimiser is great to use as a primer since it smooths, mattifies and laves skin feeling fresh and pure. It is ideal base for make up and it doesn't dry out the skin. I like to put it on my nose and continue with the usual foundation to achieve flawless effect. Once again, it will be especially loved by the oily skin sufferers. (RRP £7.50)

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash
This face wash gives an amazing blast of cool and fresh effect on your face and it is a perfect wake-up call in the morning. Creamy texture doesn't dry out the skin too much and it definitely helps to remove impurities to follow up with the anti-blemish-action regime. (RRP £5)

Yesterday I went to see Harry Potter studio tour and it was amazing! I was lucky enough to go during Animal Actors week and I've met all the famous animals which played in the movies: Mrs Norris, Fang, Hedwig and Crookshanks. I took my video camera with me so stay tuned for my first ever VLOG documenting the whole trip (and in the meantime subscribe to my channel)! If you are a Harry Potter fan - whether big or small - I highly recommend going to Warner Bros studios. It really is the place where magic happens and you can easily spend your whole day in there. Because I knew that there will be a lot of walking involved I wore my ASOS boots, simple jeans and a loose checked shirt from Primark. I also wore my Dorothy Perkins coat during the tour, because at one point you're going outside to see a real Privet Drive and can taste yummy Butterbeer sipping it in the sunshine. As a nod to the amazing day I also wore my Hermione's Time-Turner necklace - it's simply perfect! I'm dashing now to take a mouthful of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans - fingers crossed I won't encounter vomit or booger flavour!

New Primark necklaces

Last week I've picked up a new batch of Primark necklaces. I love statement necklaces - I think they are amazing piece of jewellery which can easily transform your dress and t-shirt to a completely new look. Primark has really stepped up its game for the past couple of seasons and you can find some true gems if you're willing to brave the crowds. I think it's well worth it - just take a look at the prices! I think I am sorted for the next few months, but I bet I will not resist the allure of Primark jewellery for too long.

Do you like any of my picks? Which one is your favourite?

LUSH You Snap The Whip Body Butter review

LUSH You Snap The Whip Body Butter review, beauty blog,
LUSH You Snap The Whip Body Butter review, beauty blog,

Since I am a huge fan of blackberries and anything berry-scented I've instantly fallen in love with LUSH The Comforter Bubble Bar and LUSH Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly. On a hunt for more, I've asked sales assistant if they have anything else sweetly scented and she recommended this You Snap The Whip Body Butter (£6.25/95g).

It looks super black and scary on the outside, but the inside hides a delicious cocoa butter and macadamia nut oil with that berry smell which comes the oil of blackcurrants, bergamot oil and cypress oil. So if you are a fan of the smell of blackcurrants and liquorice, you need this body butter in your life. After doing some research on-line I cut it to 6 pieces to get the fullest experience and get it to last longer. The usual time span is 5-6 washes and a lot of people complain that it finishes far too quickly since it is very oily. I don't necessarily agree with the LUSH's description that it exfoliates and removes dead skin since it doesn't have any hard bits, but boy it does an amazing job at moisturising and leaving your skin nourished and soft to touch. So if you are looking for a luxury treatment every once in a while and being enveloped in an amazing berry scent, that's the product for you.

Also, just to let you know that it doesn't come in the tin in the photos above. You need to get Body Butter Tin separately and I highly recommend it since it is a great storage solution. It costs around £3 and you can easily re-use it for any other LUSH products.

Another make up look from yesterday's show. This time I poked around the backstage at Xiao Li and once again met amazing Lan Nguyen-Grealis, who was head make up artist on the show. The inspiration - as usual - was the fashion collection - full of Icelandic vibes, glacier and iceberg feels - think lots of blue and white. The designer wanted to break away from this cold theme and decided that she wants to warm up the look using make up. And so pink came to the rescue with pink hues on eyes, lips and hair to create a statement look, which still can be very girly.

As a base, Lan used a completely brand new The Body Shop product - Insta Blur All-In-One 5-Action Perfector. Coming out in May, this universal-shade primer is one of the best things I have ever seen. It literally melts into your skin and creates a perfect matte base for any foundation you may have. Lan really praised this product and I got some inside info saying that there aren't any press releases on this primer yet, so you've heard about it here first! After applying foundation, Lan accentuated cheekbones using Radiant Highlighter. The main focus were the eyes and the hot pink look was created first using Colour Crush Lipstick in Passionate Pink on the eyelids, followed by Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Berry Cheeky. In the corners of the eyes Lan used pale pink and white eyeshadows to add little shimmer and open them up a little. Define & Lengthen Mascara was swiped on both brows and lashes and the whole look was set using Vitamin E Face Mist.

London Fashion Week AW14: backstage at Yifang Wan fashion show

I was lucky to get invited once again by The Body Shop to report back to you some of the backstage action from the Fashion Scout's venue during London Fashion Week. I've arrived early today ready for the first show of the day - Yifang Wan. The head make up artist was Claire De-Graft who quickly talked me through the today's look.

The face was prepped with Vitamin E Moisture Cream, followed by the All-In-One BB Cream. To add some dimension and a little bit of shimmer, a delicate swipe of Radiant Highlighter and pink-toned Brush On Radiance beads were also used. Claire also cheated her way to contoured cheeks by actually using Brow & Liner Kit - definitely not the standard contouring product. On the eyes, the darkest blue shade from the Shimmer Cube Palette was used, but to get the looks of barely-there colour, make up artist first applied it on a brush, dabbed on her own hand and then very carefully swiped the brush across the eyelid with the remaining residue to get just a hint of colour. The corner of the eye and brow bone were highlighted with Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Sugar Glaze. Unruly brows were tamed with Brow & Lash Gel - one of Claire's favourite The Body Shop products. The lips also stayed neutral with the dab of Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation and Vitamin E Lip Balm. To seal the deal, just before they walked on the catwalk, each of the models's faces was sprayed with Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz to achieve fresh, dewy and glowy look.

MAC Russian Red lipstick, MAC, lipstick, statement lips, red, make up, review, swatches, UK beauty blog

MAC Russian Red is a classic red lipstick shade which I've learnt to love over the years. I never thought red lipstick suited me, but after experimenting few years ago I saw that I was seriously missing out and even wore red lipstick on my wedding day! I wanted to get Russian Red shade for the longest of time and it is just perfect. Although playing with it a couple of times actually made me realise that I need to invest in the red lip liner, because application of this particular MAC lipstick proves really tricky. Do you have any recommendations? I'm wearing this shade today - it seems to be ideal for Valentine's Day. On that note, I hope this day will fill you with love, just like any other of the 364 days of the year.

WHAT I WORE TODAY: Valentine's Day edition

dress* - Warehouse, shoes - New Look,
headband - ASOS,
lips - MAC Russian Red

I was lucky enough to get this amazing Warehouse dress, just in time for Valentine's Day and I thought that I may style it up before the big day to give you another idea on what you may wear. My other outfit - a black jumpsuit in a daisy print is available here for you to see. This dress is on sale, but is still available (in size 10 only) on the website, but if it is not really your cup of tea, there is plenty more of pretty dresses if you want to take a peek. I really wanted to take photos outside this time, to give this outfit a proper justice, but I have been sick in bed since Sunday and today was the first day when I've put on some make up and ventured outside. I've fallen in love with this one since is has nipped waist, beautiful emerald pleated skirt and black lace. I know I will cherish this dress forever, it is such an amazing piece - very subtle and classic! I've added a little bit of fun this time and wore my ASOS headband with cat ears and veil. I spotted it a while ago on the website, debated getting it for too long and it was sold out before my very eyes. So as soon as it became in stock again I've snapped it fast. It is so playful and flirty and adds something extra to the whole outfit - what do you think?

Victoria's Secret Sheer Love fragrance set

Victoria's Secret Sheer Love fragrance set, Sheer Love fragrance mist, perfume, Victoria's Secret, review,
Victoria's Secret Sheer Love fragrance set, Sheer Love fragrance mist, perfume, Victoria's Secret, review,

Victoria's Secret Sheer Love is another fragrance which I added to my expanding fragrance mist family. I've managed to get this set during the Boxing Day sale half price off, so not really thinking straight and surrounding myself with plethora of different perfumes I strutted off to the till. At home when I spritzed myself for the first time at first I was disappointed with the fragrance, but after a while I've learnt to really like it. Sheer Love is very different from my usual Victoria's Secret scents (Pure Daydream, Love Spell, Pure Seduction) since I tend to go for sweet fragrances and this one is fresh, bright and cheerful with fresh white cotton and luminous pink lily. It's actually really nice to try more refreshing formula and the added bonus is that it is infused with conditioning aloe vera and calming chamomile.
