I was lucky to get invited by The Body Shop to experience first hand the mayhem and craziness happening at the backstage of the London Fashion Week fashion show. Today I poked around Freemasons Hall and observed Lan Nguyen-Grealis, head make up artist, doing her magic on models and transforming them into androgynous silhouettes with an edge. The show I attended was Nian by Nihan Buruk, an upcoming Turkish designer known for her avant-garde style with aesthetic solutions.

The make up theme was David Bowie, pale and edgy. Lan used mixed turquoise eye pencil and pale green eyeshadow on the eyelids and Dare To Bare lipstick to achieve nude lips. Lots of highlighter was used to create Bowie-style white lightening strike. An understated contouring gave the models a not too obvious masculine shape which went with the theme of the fashion show perfectly.
